Collision leads to drug, weapons charges

Mar 15, 2018 | 12:46 PM

A two-vehicle collision in Grande Prairie has led to a string of drug and weapons charges against a Swan City man.

RCMP say the two vehicles collided at 99 Street and 108 Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police found that one of the drivers was wanted on outstanding warrants. A search of his vehicle turned up two sawed-off shotguns, a replica handgun, fentanyl, methamphetamine, a small amount of heroin, and what they describe as “paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.”

Andrew James Forseth is facing two charges under the Traffic Safety Act and 32 more under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Those include seven counts each of breach of recognizance and possession of a firearm contrary to a probation order and four of possession of a controlled substance.

Forseth will stay in jail until appearing in court March 19.
