UPDATE: snowfall warning ended for the Grande Prairie area

UPDATE March 27th, 10:35 a.m. The snowfall warning has ended for the Grande Prairie area. 

 

March 26th, 3:36 p.m. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Grande Prairie area. 

They say a low-pressure system will develop over western Alberta tonight bringing five to 15 centimetres of snow by tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.

The heaviest is expected near Peace River to Slave Lake. 

These areas are included in the warning: 

  • Co. of Grande Prairie near Beaverlodge Hythe and Demmitt
  • Co. of Grande Prairie near Grande Prairie and Wembley
  • Co. of Grande Prairie near Sexsmith and La Glace
  • M.D. of Greenview near DeBolt
  • M.D. of Greenview near Little Smoky
  • M.D. of Greenview near O’Brien Prov. Park and Big Mtn Creek
  • M.D. of Greenview near Sturgeon Lake
  • M.D. of Greenview near Valleyview and New Fish Creek
  • M.D. of Greenview near Wapiti and Shuttler Flats Rec. Area

Environment Canada says to be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions as visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. They advise people turn on their lights and maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles.
