Grande Prairie man charged with child pornography offences

Apr 5, 2018 | 11:21 AM

A Grande Prairie man on parole already for child pornography-related offences has been arrested again for similar charges.

The Grande Prairie RCMP’s General Investigation Section searched a city home April 4th following information received from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa.

Thirty-four-year-old Robert Lloyd Barkhouse has been charged with:

– Possession of child pornography, Sec. 163.1(4) CC
– Making sexually explicit material available to a child, Sec. 171.1(1) CC.

It is alleged Barkhouse was communicating with a teenaged girl over social media, but police do not have information to suggest he “committed offences against any local Grande Prairie youth.“

According to RCMP, the 34-year-old was convicted in 2014 for luring a child and sexual interference.

He remains in custody and will be in court April 9th.

RCMP are asking anyone with information regarding this case or any other child exploitation case to contact them.
