2018 Rotary Club Dream Home winner announced on Thursday

Apr 26, 2018 | 10:15 PM

Dave Ogreysik of Sexsmith was this year’s winner of the annual Dream Home which was valued at over a million dollars.

The tool hand says he and his wife were driving when they heard his name announced on the radio and had to pull over cause they were shaking so much.

President of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Dave McRae said the 25th Rotary Club Lottery was a big hit.

“People just get really excited about this lottery and they want to come out. If luck is on their side, they will win. We have never had a winner in the garage when we have drawn and it’s always really good with the buy-in that we get. People make an evening of it.”

McRae said this year’s edition has been the most successful.

“This year all three of the lotteries sold out and we couldn’t be more pleased.”

According to McRae, roughly 20 local non-profit groups will benefit from the event who can receive donations of up to six figures based on how popular it was this year.

“We will donate it to basically, anybody who applies where it meets our goals and meets our eligibility criteria.”

Jane Hunter-Uhryn of Grande Prairie walked away with the $275,000 50/50 Cash Jackpot.

Meanwhile, the Cash Cow Calendar will see winners announced starting in early May.
