Refunds issued after Dream Home Lottery 50-50 oversold

May 1, 2018 | 11:47 AM

Officials with the Rotary Dream Home Lottery say there was a glitch with their software and the 50-50 draw was oversold, meaning some tickets were invalid and have been refunded.

Raffle Manager Kevin Hilgers sent an email to everyone who purchased a 50-50 ticket.

In the e-mail it said Sunday, April 22 was the last day for 50-50 sales and when they were checking receipts after the cut off they noticed their software did not stop at the sell-out limit of $550,000 and they oversold.

Hilgers says once they noticed the error he informed the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and then drafted a letter of explanation and apology to those affected.

He explains if you bought a 50-50 ticket before the sell out mark of $550,000, then you were in the draw.

For those who bought past the $550,000 mark, a letter and refund cheque were mailed Wednesday.

Hilgers says they are apologizing for the error and are working with their software people to make sure it does not happen again.
