Cash and Camping Lottery ticket sales down

Jun 3, 2018 | 6:00 AM

Cash and Camping lottery ticket sales are off to a slower start than usual and Eve Tollenaar, Lottery Director with the Swan City Rotary Club is hopeful numbers pick up soon.

“I think it’s because of the weather,” she said.  “When we first kicked things off in the first couple weeks it was snowing, and we are not used to that. We’re asking people to come out to the tent, take a look around at our awesome prize line-up and maybe buy a ticket or two.”

Prizes include vehicles, campers, trips, cash and more.

The lottery also benefits the community with proceeds going to 12 local non-profit groups.

“We have 12 volunteer groups that are there selling tickets for us.  There’s quite a variety; Special Olympics Grande Prairie, Suicide Prevention, as well as Grande Prairie Music Parents Association,” she said.

Other groups benefiting from this year’s lottery include Bezanson Agricultural Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area, Camp Tamarack Association, Grande Prairie & Area Council on Aging-Seniors Outreach, Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities, Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society, Sexsmith & District Museum Society, Spinal Cord Injury Alberta and Grande Prairie Gymnastics Society.

Tickets are available at the tent at the Great Northern Casino, or online.

The cut off for the next early bird prize is June 16.  That is a cash prize of $25,000. The draw will take place on June 29.

The final ticket purchase cut-off is July 4 at 11 p.m. with the final draws to be made July 18, 2018.
