Region looking to break heat record for second straight day

Jun 20, 2018 | 10:22 AM

We are into day three of the heat warning and today we could break another record.

Maximum daily temperatures of 29 Celsius or above and minimum overnight temperatures near 14 degrees are expected for today and tomorrow in Grande Prairie.

The record for June 20 is 31.1, set back in 1950.  Sunshine and a high of 32 is the forecast for today.

Yesterday’s scorcher was one for the record books.  It got to 30.8, beating the previous record of 30.0 that was set in 1948.

Forecasters say warm weather is expected for tomorrow too, with a high of 29.

Things look like they’ll cool off Friday with a chance of showers and a high of 23.
