Search continues for the dog involved in a Grande Prairie attack

Jun 21, 2018 | 10:44 AM

A tan and white pit bull type dog is still on the loose after it attacked a woman June 5th.

RCMP and County Enforcement are now assisting City Enforcement with the search.

Sargent Kelly Kokesh with city Enforcement Services says they’ve received three reports of a dog matching a similar description, but some people are taking to social media before they’re calling officers.

“We’re just finding that there’s a little bit of a delay following up on some of these sightings.  They get posted on social media as opposed to giving us a call,” he said. “We’d like to get in touch with the complainant or the person who sights it, so we can actually have live feed on where the dog is.  It could be the dog we’re looking for, but it also might not be.”

Officers are following up on all dog at large calls that match the description and have set up live catch traps on the east side of Grande Prairie.

If you see this animal, do not approach or try to catch it. Please call Enforcement Services at 780-830-5790.
