Two Peace municpalities to get transit grants from the province
The province has announced grants for two public transportation projects in the Peace.
The first, for $640,000, will go the County of Grande Prairie. This is to set up a regional transit service to connect Hythe, Beaverlodge, Wembley, Clairmont, and Sexsmith with the city.
The MD of Spirit River is getting $200,000 to expand its Family and Community Support Services program. This will see service go from one day a month to three days a week between Spirit River, Rycroft, and Grande Prairie.
These are two of four pilot projects being done in Alberta. The other two are in Camrose.
The province says in a release that the new services should be operational this fall.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The province has corrected its news release to say the MD of Spirit River is getting the grant and that the Town of Spirit River was a key collaborator.
