Heavy rain expected for Grande Prairie region

Grande Prairie is included in a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada. 

A slow-moving low-pressure system is set to move into Alberta by Thursday night bringing periods of rain and thunderstorms.

Between Thursday to Sunday, the Grande Prairie area could received 40 to 80 millimetres of rain. Environment Canada says some spots could get over 100 millimetres,  especially in any areas affected by slow-moving thunderstorms. 

The heavy rain should leave the area by Sunday.
