Two road work projects start Friday in Grande Prairie

Aug 3, 2018 | 5:30 AM

City Hall says a couple of big road work projects are set to get underway Friday in Grande Prairie.

One will see some rebuilding of Mission Heights Drive between 76 Ave and Kateri Drive. Crews will be taking out the old asphalt, putting in a new gravel base, and putting down new pavement. As well, some curbs will be replaced and some repairs made to the storm sewer. The work is expected to take until mid-September.

Crews will also be working on 84 Street between 100 and 68 Avenues. The road will be levelled and paved.

Traffic will be down to one lane in both areas and the speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/h.

Drivers are asked to use caution.

According to a statement from the City of Grande Prairie, “the road rehabilitation program is an annual capital construction program aimed to increase the life of the City’s road network by undertaking maintenance work such as repaving large sections of road or rebuilding a road base.”
