Commemorative bricks from Canada Games Arena up for grabs

Aug 12, 2018 | 6:00 AM

Bricks from the Canada Games Arena are now up for grabs as commemorative pieces.

Renovations to the plaza done last year included the resurfacing of the plaza in front of revolution place.

The bricks endured two decades of GP weather, with the majority still in tact, but not good enough for continual use.

Chelsea O’Neill Event and Marketing Specialist at Revolution Place says all the bricks from arena where saved.

“So, the bricks with the names that so that survived two decades of Grande Prairie winters and conditions. All those bricks are saved on a pallet. We are organizing them to be available for pickup next week.”

O’Neill adds they have come up with a way to thank the people who helped by donating 20 years ago.

“Everything name that was put on those bricks, we have a database for all that information. We haven’t decided on what it’s going to be, but there will be a permanent piece that will be made to recognize everybody that helped out the community long ago.”

Any bricks that will not be claimed will be disposed of.

Identification is not required to claim a brick.

The bricks will be available from August 14th to 16th between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bowes Event Centre at Revolution Place.
