Grande Prairie air quality update for Wednesday, Aug 15
An Air Quality Advisory remains in place as thick smoke covers the area.
As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, Grande Prairie was at 14, or very high. Beaverlodge was at 8 or high and Rycroft had a low reading of 3.
The smoke is expected to stick around for the next couple of days, but according to meteorologists, it is hard to predict smoke conditions beyond 24-36 hours.
The air quality forecast for Grande Prairie calls for a high reading today and tomorrow between 7-8.
Environment Canada says when the air quality gets this poor, the at-risk population should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors. Children and the elderly should also take it easy.
