County to host conference for people on non-profit boards September 22

The County of Grande Prairie is hosting a conference for people who work with non-profit organizations.
 
The first-ever Board Leadership Northwest is set for September 22 at Evergreen Park.
 
The County’s Kathleen Turner says the conference was organized to help these people run their organizations.
 
“They require some professional development as well., how do they act as a board and just some tools that will help them succeed in their jobs.”
 
She adds they expect people from all over the Peace to be there. 
 
“We’re open to whoever wants to come. Our focus is on rural, but certainly, if there’s organizations that are based out of the city that serve a rural component, then they’re welcome to come as well.”
 
Turner says they are hoping 50 to 60 people attend. They are hoping this becomes an annual event.
