Sep 10, 2018 | 5:16 AM

A special weather statement has been issued for Grande Prairie and area.

Environment Canada says it could snow midweek with a cool airmass invading “much of Alberta this week, bringing with it weather that is decidedly more like winter than summer.”

The cold front is coming from the North West Territories Tuesday and Wednesday and we could see heavy, wet snowfall Wednesday, between 5 to 10 centimetres or more.

If needed, the government agency says snowfall warnings will be issued.

The following areas are included in the statement:

Co. of Grande Prairie near Grande Prairie and Wembley

M.D. of Greenview near DeBolt

M.D. of Greenview near Little Smoky

M.D. of Greenview near O’Brien Prov. Park and Big Mtn Creek

M.D. of Greenview near Sturgeon Lake

M.D. of Greenview near Valleyview and New Fish Creek

M.D. of Greenview near Wapiti and Shuttler Flats Rec. Area
