RCMP have charged 27-year-old Katelyn Gargan after a driver failed to stop for police on August 29, 2018, and collided with another vehicle.

According to police, on August 29 around 5:40 p.m. officers pulled a vehicle over in the area of 97a Street and 100 Avenue. Officers discovered the driver was wanted on criminal warrants and she was arrested. She managed to break free and jump back into her vehicle and speed off even as Mounties were holding onto the doors of the jeep.

The suspect was spotted minutes later in the area of 68 Avenue and 92 Street but again the vehicle took off, this time into a residential neighbourhood then north onto 92 street where it hit an SUV and gravel truck at the intersection of 92 Street and 100 Avenue.

RCMP say the suspect jumped out of the jeep and ran before being arrested again.

Gargan faces 16 charges:

  • Obstruct Police officer
  • Assault Police Officer
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to comply with demand
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to remain at scene of a collision
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

She is scheduled to appear in court in Grande Prairie on September 26, 2018.
