GPRC hosting workshops on cannabis

Sep 24, 2018 | 6:53 AM

If you are curious about cannabis, the Grande Prairie Regional College is hosting the region’s first workshop on the drug.

The Continuing Education department is hosting two nights of information for people that want to learn more about recreational marijuana before it becomes legalized in Canada on October 17.

Mariah Braun, Media, Marketing and Promotions Coordinator, says the two Let’s Talk Cannabis workshops will provide a platform for discussion.

“People will get a chance to have an open forum to discuss anything they have questions about,” says Braun.

“It is just going to shed some light on how it could impact the local economic scope and the social dynamics of our community.”

Speakers include co-founders of Peace Leaf, a local retail cannabis store, and two city officials. Chris Manuel will speak about enforcement’s measures and Alison Downing will talk about planning and development around cannabis legalization.

The workshops in Grande Prairie are on September 27 and October 11. People can register online.

The GPRC Fairview campus will also be holding a similar workshop with the Town of Fairview.
