RCMP crime maps being rolled out

Sep 26, 2018 | 7:25 AM

Crime Maps are being rolled out across the province by the RCMP and Grande Prairie’s should be up and running by October 1st.

Cpl. Chris Warren says the online map pinpoints where crimes have taken place.

“Its not to the point where it is real-time information but it is definitely at a point where it can be recent so within the last period of time whatever the area chooses to be, whether it’s a week or a monthly basis people can access that tool and see what is going on in their neighbourhoods.”

He says officers will be inputting the information.

“And then depending on the needs of that respected area, certain things can be displayed, whether its mischief in the area, vehicle thefts, where stolen property is being located and that is up to the individual jurisdiction to decide on how they want to use the particular tool.”

Grande Cache unveiled its crime map last week and Peace River’s is operational as well.
