Peace communities can get provincial help after spring flooding
Some communities in the Peace will be getting money from the province’s Disaster Recovery Program.
The County of Grande Prairie, Saddle Hills County, Hythe, and Sexsmith are all in line for money after spring flooding.
“When disaster strikes, Albertans need to have confidence that there is an effective program to help them recover. There can be great challenges when trying to overcome the financial loss as a result of disasters, and we are committed to supporting Albertans and municipalities through these challenging times,” said Shaye Anderson, Minister of Municipal Affairs in a news release.
Farms, businesses, homeowners and tenants are eligible to apply for money to help with clean-up and repairs. The province says centres where people can fill out applications will be set up.
A total of 33 Alberta communities will share $39-million dollars in help after flooding and wildfires in 2017-2018.
