Nominations open for Repka, Bowes awards
City Hall is accepting nominations for its George Repka and Bill Bowes awards.
Both honour Grande Prairie volunteers.
The City’s Richelle Richardson says the George Repka Award recognizes social services, recreation, or culture volunteers with more than 20 years service.
“They have to have distinguished or notable achievements or contributions to the community, so, somebody that goes out and does stuff for the community at large and is just a community builder-type person.”
The award named for Bill Bowes is for outstanding contributions to the city from a volunteer organization or foundation.
“It’s for organizations that do a lot for the community and go out and make sure that they’re helping people and not just sticking to one thing,” adds Richardson.
Nomination forms are available on the city’s website.
Nominations are open through November 1.
