Oct 11, 2018 | 2:31 PM

UPDATE (3:18 p.m.) RCMP have arrested a 35-year-old man, known to police as a dangerous offender, and a 16-year-old girl after a pursuit ended near Bonanza.

Police were called to the area of Webster around 11 a.m. Wednesday where witnesses noticed a truck stuck in the ditch and two people fleeing the area on a quad.

Through investigation, officers found that the quad and truck were stolen. Police tried to stop the quad but were unsuccessful.

According to police, within a few minutes, another truck was reported stolen and police tried to stop the vehicle numerous times in order to arrest the suspects. RCMP say the two continued to dodge police.

Police then got air support, emergency response from Edmonton, Spirit River RCMP and Dawson Creek RCMP to help find the vehicle.

The vehicle was located by air support before colliding with two police cruisers.

The two were arrested and charges are pending.

RCMP say an update will be provided when more information is available. The two remain in custody.

Callers to the EverythingGP newsroom have confirmed there was a heavy police presence in the Silver Valley area yesterday.

Peace Wapiti School Division says a Hold and Secure was in place at schools nearby, including in Bonanza. They say the protocol is set into place when there is something going on unrelated to the school.

RCMP have yet to comment on the details.

We will have more information once it becomes available.
