New firefighters graduate from County training program

Eight new certified firefighters officially graduated from the County of Grande Prairie’s firefighter training program Friday night. 
 
A special ceremony was held at Evergreen Park to recognize the graduates, who will be stationed at the La Glace, Bezanson, Teepee Creek and Sexsmith fire halls. 
 
The event also saw the presentation of awards to a number of current members of the County fire department. 
 
Captains Harold Bulford and Jason Nesbitt, Lieutenant Marc Leger, and firefighter Candace Green were recognized with Chief Coins. 
 
The award recognizes fire fighters for exceptional service above and beyond their daily job responsibilities.
 
Nesbitt, Green and Leger also received the provincial Alberta Emergency Services Medal for long service, while Bulford was one of 27 members to receive service milestome awards from the County.
