Several activities planned Small Business Week

Lots of local events are planned for Small Business Week this week.
 
Tom Pura with the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce says the week is a celebration.
 
“A celebration of how important small businesses are to the economy locally, provincially and nationally. It’s just a chance for people to recognize how entrepreneurs and people that run these businesses are so important to our country.”
 
He adds most of the Chamber’s members are small businesses.
 
“Probably 80 to 90 percent of our member’s businesses have less than 10 employees. It is so important for these businesses to be able to get the word out and we are so grateful for them being members of our Chamber.”
 
Small Business Week events will include a ribbon-cutting and knowledge exchange at the ATB Entrepreneur Centre Monday, the Women in Business lunch Tuesday, the Lunch with Rotary and the Awards of Distinction Wednesday, and the Business Showcase Thursday at the ANAVETS Club.
 
Pura says 5000 online votes were cast for the Awards of Distinction
