Open houses planned for the Tri-Municipal Industrial Partnership Area Structure Plan

Oct 22, 2018 | 8:08 AM

Open houses are being held this week regarding the Tri-Municipal Industrial Partnership Area Structure Plan.

The site for the proposed Heavy Industrial District Project is south of Grande Prairie in the Municipal District of Greenview in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie and County.

Manager of Economic Development with the M.D. Kevin Keller says a major concern has already been brought up.

“The province has the twinning of Highway 40 to the Norbord Facility planned in the near future, hopefully, that actually takes place. Yes, it will impact it, by the time we see our first facility there I don’t think the twinning will already be underway.”

The first open house is Wednesday evening at Clarkson Hall at Evergreen Park and Thursday’s public engagement is in Grovedale.

“If you have questions or concerns. You know the big thing is it sounds like it’s a large area but once we looked at the actual development of the area it is a much smaller footprint, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to section off massive chunks of land, development is going to happen we are just going to do it in a smart and cooperative way.”

The idea of the project south of Grande Prairie is to cluster businesses together

There will be another round of open houses in January.
