19-year-old Grande Prairie resident charged following armed robbery

The Grande Prairie RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a hotel on the west side of the city Saturday night.

The call came in following the suspect taking out a firearm and stealing an employee’s personal items.

The suspect then fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Police were able to identify the suspect through video surveillance and through photo identification from a wallet on the scene which was left behind.

Caiden Mackinnon, 19, of Grande Prairie is facing numerous charges, which include:

– Robbery with a firearm.
– Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
– Carry a concealed weapon.
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
– Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
– Careless use of a firearm
– Pointing a firearm.

No further information on the incident will be provided as the matter is now before the court.
