FSJ product part of blockbuster trade Wednesday in WHL

Nov 1, 2018 | 6:24 AM

There were no games Wednesday in the Western Hockey League, but the league still made headlines as a substantial trade was made between two big market clubs.

It was announced early in the afternoon that the Vancouver Giants had sent 1999 born forward James Malm of Langley B.C to the Calgary Hitman for 2000 born forward Tristan Neilsen along with a conditional draft pick in 2020.

Neilsen, who hails from Fort St.John B.C, is coming off a strong 17-year-old season which saw him compile 19 goals and 16 assists in 49 games.

The 18-year-old is off to a slow start this season as he has yet to register a point in 5 games with the Hitman.

On the other side, Malm is currently in his 3rd full season in the Western Hockey League, and has already racked up 9 goals and 6 assists in 12 games so far this season.

Neilsen will join his new club this weekend as he makes his debut against Kamloops on Saturday.
