Artists go easel-to-easel for United Way

Nov 3, 2018 | 6:38 AM

Paint will be splashing during a competition coming to Teresa Sargent Hall next weekend.

In support of United Way Alberta Northwest, FuBar is hosting an Art Battle on November 10. Business Development and Resource Manager Jessica Pinette says the international competition will help both their organization and the artists competing.

“The artists enter for free. They basically come in and compete. After the competition is done, the art is auctioned off in a silent auction with half the proceeds going to the United Way and half the proceeds going to the artists,” says Pinette.

Spectators will vote for their favourites and have a say in who gets first place in the competition. On top of earning some cash through the silent auction, the 12 artists also have a chance to compete nationally or internationally with the Art Battle series.

Pinette says this is just one of many ideas she has bouncing around in her head for fun and fresh fundraisers for her organization. Just under two months ago, Better Than Fred’s hosted a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament which ended up selling out.

Tickets for this event are available through Eventbrite. There will be a DJ and bar services at the event.

If you want to be a competitor, you can register on the Art Battle website
