Odyssey House’s Adopt A Family returns

Odyssey House Grande Prairie is inviting the community to adopt a family this holiday season.

Spokesperson Makayla Marcotte says last year 26 single mother families benefitted from the program and received gifts and Christmas dinner.

“We ask that members of the community to purchase gifts for the both the mother and the children of the family along with a gift card for a grocery store so that they can purchase the ingredients for a Christmas meal.”

Last year, 79 individual mothers and children also received gifts.

“I think it is really, really wonderful when the moms receive a gift, they don’t expect that, so it is kind of something where the community is looking out for them, someone is being generous to them. It is particularly heartwarming for the kids during the holiday season because, you know, they are kids.”
