Two arrested during stolen vehicle investigation

A man and woman are facing charges after they allegedly escaped from police twice in one day. 

RCMP say they received a call of a stolen truck at 100 Avenue and 108 Street on the west side of the city on Sunday and when police tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects drove through a nearby field to evade police. 

Later that day, RCMP say members of their rural detachment spotted the same truck near Debolt and the suspects rammed a parked police vehicle while escaping police for the second time. 

A short time later, police say they responded to a car theft from a rural area. Officers were able to find the car as it was weaving in the opposite lane of traffic on Highway 43 near Range Road 26-2. RCMP were able to apprehend the suspects using Police Dog Services as the two were trying to get into slow moving vehicles. 

Grande Prairie City RCMP, Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, and Police dog services were involved in the stolen vehicle investigation.

Twenty-seven-year-old Cody Marcel Young of Edmonton is facing the following charges:

• Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00.
• One count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00.
• Two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
• Possession of a controlled substance.
• Fail to comply with probation order.
• Theft under $5000.00.

Thirty-nine-year-old Angela Marie Duncan is facing the following charges:

• Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00.
• Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00.
• One count of possession of a controlled substance.
• One count of failing to comply with release conditions.

Duncan is set to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court today while Young will appear in court on December 3, 2018.
