Local auto seller planning to expand
A long-standing auto dealership in Grande Prairie is also among the local businesses planning to expand.
Doug Marshall Chevrolet Corvette Cadillac is planning a new facility on Grande Prairie’s west side.
General Sales Manager Rolly Marie is hoping construction will start sometime in the spring.
“Hopefully, we have all the legal things handled with the engineers, the designers, all the legal things to do with General Motors as well, and the city.”
He thinks this will create a number of jobs.
“I don’t know who the general contractor is going to be, so I’m sure it’s going to be (a local company). The store is going to get bigger, so I’m going to be employing more people. That’s my plan anyways.”
Marie says he is confident in the state of the local economy.
“You have to be. I’ve been doing this a long time and there’s certain periods that get a little soft and you’ve got to be ready for the next boom, right? Life is a cycle and (you’ve) got to be ready for the next positive one.”
The target completion date for the new dealership is late 2020.
