Handling the Holidays candlelight service set for next Sunday
This time of year can be especially hard for those who have lost loved ones.
Oliver’s Funeral Home has a special Christmas candlelight service planned for next Sunday to help people cope.
“Christmas – Handling the Holidays” is an event where people can get together and support each other
Liesa Peters, with Oliver’s Funeral home says Christmas is a hard time of year for a lot of people.
And especially if it’s their first Christmas without their loved one, it can be very heart wrenching for them.
“Which have pictures of their loved ones that we put up on power point. Every time that their picture comes up, we light a candle in memory of them. It is a way for us of showing that we have not forgotten the family and that we are here to support them. We also have people in the community that come out that have not lost anybody, but they want to show support to the ones that are struggling.”
Peters adds they have done this in the past and it’s been very well received.
“Last year, we had 92 pictures that went up on the power point, but we had close to 200 people that came out in support of it. And it has been received so well. People come and it did not matter who sat beside them and if they knew them. But they all had one thing in common in that they had all lost a loved one and they were there to support each other.”
You’re asked to sign up on Oliver’s website.
Pictures of loved ones for the power point need to be in by Nov. 27.
