Evergreen Park adding land
Evergreen Park is getting bigger.
The addition of three quarter-sections of land from the County of Grande Prairie has been approved.
General Manager Dan Gorman says all three are on Evergreen Park’s south end.
He says there is a lot of discussion going on about what to do with it.
“Our long-term planning committee, with our board, is discussing a number of different things for the southern area there and certainly, the park is looking at a second entrance to the park right now in that southern area as well as just developing it and yet still keeping the beauty that is that wonderful area to the south.”
He adds other things are being considered too.
“Some trails and stuff through the park as far as horse trails and just making sure that we keep the integrity of the environment down in that southern area.”
Gorman says talks about what to do with that land will continue.
“We’ve got a 20-year long-range plan. We have a number of our on-site user groups who have expressed an interest in expanding and growing their areas and that have applied for the same. There’s (also) a number of other groups that have expressed an interest in joining the park.”
Gorman says the park’s long-range planning committee will make recommendations to the board.
