Northern Spirit Light Show ready to shine

Dec 2, 2018 | 4:30 AM

A holiday time tradition for many, the Northern Spirit Light Show at Evergreen Park is now open for the season.

The Peace Draft Horse Club puts this show on every year, they do the physical set up of it.  Volunteers start setting up on the weekend in mid-September and usually finish about mid-November.

“Well we couldn’t do it without corporate sponsorship and well everybody that comes out and visits the light show every year,” explained Graham Vance, President of the Peace Draft Horse Club.

He says they’ve had a few busy evenings already.

“We’ve probably come close to 1,000 people those nights.  Hopefully, we get a lot more of those, they’re a lot of fun, that’s when our draft horse club really gets to enjoy the moment because we get to just drive horses constantly all night.”

Vance says they’ve added about a dozen new displays this year.

The show is open now on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and vehicles can go until 10 p.m.

On December 7 the light show will be open every evening until December 31, except for Christmas Day when it is closed.

Money raised through the light show helps cover costs and a good portion goes right back into the community to schools or charities and programs like 4H.
