RCMP seize $50K in counterfeit cheques, stolen health care cards in stolen vehicle
Two people have been arrested and face a slew of charges relating to counterfeit money and stolen identification after RCMP tracked a suspicious vehicle north of the city.
The vehicle turned out to be stolen, as did a number of items inside. That included $49,627.01 in counterfeit cheques, $3,000.00 in counterfeit foreign currency, 54 personal cheques, and nine counterfeit Alberta health care cards. Officers also seized a SIN card, a birth certificate, and multiple types of counterfeit personal identity cards.
29-year old Kailey Peterschein has been charged with:
Buying/receiving/possessing Counterfeit money x 28.
Possession of identity documents x 13.
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 11.
Making /having instruments of counterfeiting.
Possession of a controlled substance.
