Kettle campaign needs another $135,000 to reach goal
It’s been very busy at the local food bank heading into Christmas.
“Food security is really important for people in our community, we’ve already given out over 700 hampers and we still have people coming still asking for that last minute help,” says Captain Peter Kim of the Grande Prairie Salvation Army.
The kettle campaign has a goal of $500,000 and as of Wednesday they still had about $136,000 to go to make their target.
“And this campaign is very important for us because it does support the work of the Salvation Army in Grande Prairie for an entire year.”
There are just a few days left to donate to kettles around town and the mailer portion of the campaign wraps up at the end of the year.
They also have a couple more volunteers spots they need to fill, one on Saturday and one Christmas Eve. If you can spare some time to man a kettle, you’re asked to call 780-532-3720.
