Passionate Heart Awards still accepting nominations

Jan 3, 2019 | 4:30 AM

Nominations are still open for the 13th annual Passionate Heart Awards.

The awards highlight the work teams or individuals are doing in the social services field to better the community.

“We just wanted to make sure everybody knows the nominations are still open,” says the City’s Home Support Coordinator Anna Stewart. “We do encourage any non-profit agencies or businesses to nominate any people or businesses they feel would benefit from this. It just really recognizes and highlights the individuals and businesses that go above and beyond, and really are making a huge impact on the community.”

Stewart says anyone in the Grande Prairie region is eligible to submit nominations.

“We are doing this in conjunction with the County of Grande Prairie, Hythe, Wembley, Sexsmith, and Beaverlodge. So anyone from those regions is able to make nominations,” says Stewart.

Award categories include:

1. Exceptional Service for front-line staff with two or more years of experience in the following professions:

  • Policing Services
  • Child and Family Services
  • Youth Services
  •  Social Services
  • Education

2. Exceptional Team for nonprofit social agencies or social services teams

3. Business Award for businesses that provide outstanding support to the community

4. Chris Henderson Lifetime Service Award for individuals with 10+ years of social service in the community

The recipients of the awards will be honoured at a luncheon on February 14, 2019, at Evergreen Park.
