WPCA unveils World Finals format
The World Professional Chuckwagon Association has unveiled the format for the first-ever World Finals.
It will take place at Century Downs near Calgary August 21 to 25.
The WPCA says in a release that the top 12 drivers after the last tour stop will advance to a four-day playoff round at the Finals.
There will be a point system based on running and aggregate times. The top four in points after the first four nights will go to the $50,000 Championship Dash on the final day. The World Champion will be whoever has the most season points after those same four nights of heats.
The WPCA adds with $300,000 in prize money available, the World Finals will join the Grande Prairie Stompede and the Ponoka and Calgary Stampedes as the top four highest-paying events on the wagon circuit.
Chuckwagon season starts May 29 at Stompede.
