Townes’ “Somebody’s Daughter” tops Canadian country charts

Grande Prairie’s very own Tenille Townes is sitting at the top of the country music charts in Canada.

Townes’ single “Somebody’s Daughter” topped the MediaBase Canada’s singles charts, beating out the likes of Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett.

This is the first time the 25-year-old has sat at the top of the charts.

In a post on her Facebook page, Townes said: “19 years ago I was singing along to “Georgia” by Carolyn Dawn Johnson at the top of my lungs when it hit #1, and Somebody’s Daughter is the second debut charting single to go number one by a Canadian artist since that song. I just can’t even believe it. I have looked up to Carolyn my whole life and am so grateful to call her a mentor and a dear friend.”
