Grande Prairie NDP candidate chosen

Feb 19, 2019 | 8:02 PM

Todd Russell has been selected as the Alberta New Democratic Party Candidate in Grande Prairie for the 2019 election.

Russell is a longtime resident of Grande Prairie and serves as the Captain of the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

He has worked at the GPFD for 18 years and is also the founding member of the Grande Prairie Pride Society.

“I’ve spent the last 18 years fighting for families in Grande Prairie and I’m running because only Rachel Notley is standing up for everyday families here in Alberta and I want to keep fighting for Grande Prairie with her in the legislature” said Russell. “I want to thank Melissa for the great race and the work she’s done, and will keep doing, to make life better for families in our region.”

Russel ran in the last Alberta election but was defeated by Wildrose member Todd Loewen.

“Grande Prairie is a growing community and is an economic driver for the province. Big conservative cuts will hurt our schools, our roads and our healthcare. Rachel’s fighting for what matters to Grande Prairie and together we’re going to keep investing in our region, our infrastructure and in our families.”
