Veterinarians in Alberta have voted to ban medically unnecessary surgical procedures on an animal, such as declawing, ear cropping and tail docking.
They’ve also voted to require vets and their staff to report animal abuse and neglect.
The vote by members of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association took place yesterday in Calgary.
The association says the changes will have a significant impact on animal welfare in Alberta.
