UPDATE: Grande Prairie murder trial underway

Feb 25, 2019 | 4:30 AM

UPDATE: The former general manager of the Canadian Brewhouse was the first person to testify on Day 1 of a murder trial in Grande Prairie.

He told court that he saved video footage from the bar’s security system onto a USB stick at the request of police. He also talked about the number of cameras in that system and how it was set up.

Most of his testimony was about the layout of the bar at the time of the shooting death of John William Rock in 2014 and where the entrances/exits were located.

Alberta Justice says a trial in a nearly five-year-old Grande Prairie murder case is set to start today.

Nicholas Richard Harris was charged after 28-year-old John William Rock was shot to death outside the Canadian Brewhouse in Grande Prairie October 1, 2014.

Both men were from Edmonton.

Harris was arrested nearly three years after Rock’s death.

Ten days have been set aside for the trial.
