Feb 27, 2019 | 5:43 AM

A full 60 minutes.

A message which for any hockey player is a familiar one from coaches and in Game 5 of their best of five, the Grande Peace Athletic Club Ernies Sports Midget AAA Storm did just that, played a full 60 minutes.

The Midget AAA Storm earned a massive 8-2 win over the SSAC Athletics in the do or die game, which also helped secure a 3-2 victory in the series.

Sheldon Kwiatkowski opened the scoring midway through the 1st period for the Storm as he sniped a rocket of a wrist shot past Ryley Osland on a 5 on 3 to give the Storm a 1-0.

Captain Edge Lambert would double the lead late in the period off of a perfect pass from Ty Toews to give the home side a 2-0 advantage.

The Midget AAA Storm wouldn’t look back as they would add 3 in the 2nd, and 4 in the 3rd to win 8-2.

Both Kwiatkowski and Lambert each had a pair of goals in the win and Nolan Flint, Dayne Tews, Mason Hartman, and Jayden Watson also found the back of the net.

With the win, the Midget AAA Storm are off to the 2nd round of the post-season where they will meet the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.

The series will begin Thursday night in Fort Saskatchewan.

Game 2 will be back in Grande Prairie Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Coca-Cola Centre.
