PWPSD to run Facebook campaign on online safety in response to internet ‘challenges’

Feb 27, 2019 | 4:48 PM

The Peace Wapiti School Division is going to be running an online campaign on Facebook on Thursday, February 28, in response to an online phenomenon called the “Momo Challenge” which has recently become popular again due to shares on Facebook.

The school division says the campaign is going to offer resources which give recommendations on the amount of screen time children should have, along with other safety topics such as highlighting the importance of modeling good digital behavior to young people and children.

The school division has posted some tips for helping parents keep kids safe online which include reminding children of the importance of never talking to or taking advice from strangers, and urging them to tell a trusted adult if someone tells them to do something harmful or criminal.
