Public input sought at second Saskatoon Mountain open house
The future of the Saskatoon Mountain Provincial Recreation Area will be discussed at an open house today in Beaverlodge.
It was redesignated in March of last year. It was previously called a natural area.
Heritage Team Lead Mark Townsend says a plan for what to do next is needed.
“This open house, which is being held in Beaverlodge, is to test with the public some alternative trail designs that would be incorporated into the PRA.”
He adds they are looking for public feedback on what are called draft design concepts.
“We have a fair bit of input through a lengthy consultation process that happened to this point and we’ve developed a number of draft concepts and we would like to test those with the public.”
Trail plans will be altered based on what is said at the open house.
“The next steps, then, would be to take the input that we’ve received in this round of consultation and make some changes to the draft trail network, and then continue working on the components of the draft management plan,” adds Townsend.
This will be the second open house held on Saskatoon Mountain changes after one in Grande Prairie last September.
Today’s session will go from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Beaverlodge Pool.
