Not as much snow in 2019

Mar 4, 2019 | 12:52 PM

While February brought a lot of cold, it did not bring as much snow as last year.

Environment Canada says there were 20.5 centimetres of snow last month, down from the 39.2 that fell in February of 2018.

Those same numbers say combined snowfall for January and February this year is 40 centimetres less than it was over the first two months of last year.

Environment Canada adds the first two months of this year saw 48.2 centimetres of snow.

There were 88.4 in January and February of 2018.

The February that just ended was the second-coldest in Grande Prairie in the last 50 years, with only February of 1979 being colder.
