Kings steal home ice advantage with win in Game 3

Mar 5, 2019 | 5:22 AM

The JDA Kings are returning to the County Sportsplex with a 2-1 series lead in their North West Junior Hockey League semi-final series.

This after they doubled up the Dawson Creek Jr.Canucks 4-2 in Game 3 of their best of seven series.

Wyatt Lawrence got the scoring started for the visitors just 1:42 into the opening frame and the Kings would ride that momentum into the 2nd period.

Just 22 seconds into the middle stanza, Lawrence would net his 2nd of the night on the power play to double the Kings lead.

Corbin Doram would add to the Kings lead at the 4:18 mark and just 44 seconds later Lawrence would complete the hat-trick and make it 4-0 Kings.

The four goal advantage would prove to be too big of a hill to climb for the Jr.Canucks as they dropped their 2nd game to the Kings in as many nights.

Kings goalie Will McCreight had another strong performance in the win as the 20-year-old made 41 saves.

Game 4 of the best of seven will go Tuesday night at the County Sportsplex with puck drop at 8:30 p.m.

In the other league semi-final, the Fort St.John Huskies held on for a 2-1 win in Game 3 over the North Peace Navigators.

The Huskies now lead the series 2-1 with Game 4 back in Peace River on Wednesday.
