The JDA Kings are heading to the North West Junior Hockey League Final.

They knocked off the Dawson Creek Jr.Canucks 5-1 in Game 7 of their NWJHL semi-final series Sunday afternoon to punch their ticket to the league final for the first time since 2014.

Captain Austin Hrehoruk led the charge for the Kings in the win as he found the back of the net twice and goaltender Will McCreight was superb in between the pipes as the veteran netminder made 41 saves in the win.

The Kings will now move on to the league final where they will meet the defending league champion Fort St.John Huskies.

Fort St.John also earned a Game 7 win Sunday.

They edged the North Peace Navigators 3-0.

Gary Loewen had a goal and an assist for the Huskies in the win and Jonathon Bateman made 15 saves for the shutout.

No schedule has been released for the final at this time.

The league final won’t be the only hockey these two teams have left though.

With both of their series wins, both the Kings and Huskies have earned spots at Provincials which will be hosted in Wetaskiwin April 4-7th.
