Mar 11, 2019 | 2:56 PM

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP have confirmed a 31-year-old male has been killed as a result of a workplace accident Sunday night.

This is the second workplace fatality in the Grande Prairie area in about a week and the third in the province.

Police and Emergency Services responded to a worksite around 10:30 p.m., about 60 kilometres south of Grande Prairie near Wapiti Road.

The man was struck by heavy machinery while at work, which caused fatal injuries.

RCMP are unable to release the name of the victim.

Alberta Occupational Health and Safety is now investigating this and the other two recent workplace fatalities.

A 37-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while working near Grande Prairie on Mar. 4.

Another worker died the same day in a fall at an apartment complex under construction in Leduc.
