The season is over for the Grande Prairie Storm.

The club was eliminated Monday night from the AJHL playoffs as they dropped a 5-1 decision to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in Game 4 and fell in the series 3-1.

Grande Prairie got off to a good start in the win or go home game as they opened the scoring 7:28 into the 1st period thanks to Vincent Milot-Oullet and his 3rd of the post-season.

However, this turned out to be the only goal the Storm could get by 20-year-old netminder Chris Curr.

Kole Gable netted a pair of goals in the 2nd period for the MOB to give the visitors a 2-1 lead going into the final 20 minutes of regulation.

It then went from bad to worse for the Storm in the 3rd as the club allowed three more in the final stanza including another goal from Gable who completed the hat-trick.

Fort McMurray will move on to the AJHL North division semi-finals where they will meet the top seeded Sherwood Park Crusaders in the next round which will begin on Friday.

Meanwhile for the Storm, that will mark the end of the 2018-2019 season.

It will also mark the end of the Junior careers of Captain Connor Blake, Xavier Pouliot, Vincent Milot-Oullet, Noah Corson, and Zach Webb who were the five overage players on the Storm this season.

It also marked the end of Zachary Okabe’s Storm career as he is set to move on to St. Cloud State University next season.

Okabe is also expected to be taken in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft which will be held in Vancouver at the end of June.
