A local curling team is still going to a national championship, even though it lost a provincial final.

Nathan Molberg of St. Albert beat Cortland Sonnenberg of Grande Prairie 6-3 in Sunday’s boys final at the U18 Provincial Championship in Medicine Hat.

The Sonnenberg rink will be one of the host teams at the Canadian U18 Championships to be played April 2 to 7 in Sherwood Park.
